Bury keeper punched

by cmonurz » 26 Apr 2011 10:56

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... -face.html

Chesterfield fan punches the Bury keeper in the face after the home team take the lead in yesterday's match. A couple of other little chavs swear at him. Wtf is wrong with some people?

Twice in a season a player has been attacked now, hopefully this little shit will be charged with assault.

Local Police said...

Police said a 38-year-old man and two boys, aged 13 and 16, were arrested and questioned. They were later released on bail pending further enquiries.

Fair do's to the keeper for such restraint

I know what I would've probably done

Even more shameful is the "old enough to know betters" in the crowd seemingly egging it all on

unbelievable

Keeper had just recovered from a fractured cheekbone as well. Rather pleased Bury won the game. By the look of the Chesterfield fans, you'd be forgiven for mistaking it for a still from Planet of the Apes

Living in Chesterfield I'd like to defend them....but I can't...as you are right. Last year I went to their game against Bradford at Saltergate. A fight broke out bewteen two sets of home fans, one lot were singing some shameful songs about the non-European residents of Bradford. The others booed them for being twats.......so the first lot attacked their fellow fans. Mind you it was wonderful watching Zesh Rehman celebrate Bradford's goal in front of those idiots.......and to be fair most of the Chesterfield fans were aplauding him.

Doubt that punch hurt.
Ummmmm, hopefully those lot will try it on against a team with pedigree like a Millwall - they'd be carved up.

Its good to see that Chesterfield has full employment, as clearly Chesterfield FC don't employ any stewards.........

Never liked Chesterfield; been to Saltergate twice - the first when we just survived being relegated the last game of the season having been down at half-time - a couple of Chesterfield "fans" were in the Reading end trying to kick off near the end when a coloured Reading fam punched one of them and they scuttled off...the 2nd time was the same day as the infamous battle of Bramall Lane and the Chesterfield fans were morons that day as well; even Woodcote was getting wound up by them.......

The keeper keeps arms down by his side all the way through which, I think, is kudos to him. How tempting to slap them back. And the grey haired tools in the background lapping it up are little better.

On the Cheltenham forum there is an interesting point made that this particular keeper enjoyed a fair bit of a good-natured banter with the home fans behind the goal when Bury visited Whaddon Road and he got applauded off at the end. If he does this normally, then you can see how this may have escalated to something a bit nastier in this game.

Yeah I read that too - also on the Chesterfield forum that before this incident, in response to taunts from the crowd questioning his sexuality, the keeper had been patting his backside, as well as a couple of other gestures. Perhaps naive of him to think that in this sort of fixture everyone would see the funny side, but equally he should expect to be safe from attack.

To be fair to them, they were probably just clapping/celebrating the goal their side just scored - not the fact someone is punching the Bury keeper.
