I doubt the guy is by any means made of money, so whilst it's pretty shit for Barnet, if he's offered a 12 month contract somewhere I can see why's he's taken it. I suspect many of us would do the same in his situation.

Sure - but the problem imho is (largely) the way he acted beforehand, doing it for the love of the club, no suggestion that he would leave as soon as a better offer came in etc. Laughable comments such as "set up to avoid relegation" don't really help him.

Team Board meLOLtdown if a similar thing happened here.

Oh yeah, I'm not disputing he's a complete helmet, but would we expect anything else from him?

Well, you're no different to the countless number of people who say "my friend's brother is mates with player x....". Whether you believe that yours is more important than others is up to you.

More important? Christ, what does that even mean?

That's a very fair point.

MA did a very open and honest interview yesterday on 5Live.

Basically he said I've got a family to support, I was offered a better paid job on a longer-term contract, compared with a poorly-paid, short-term role where there's no long-term commitment.

People who want loyalty from managers need to look at just how many clubs show loyalty to their managers each season.

I heard it too. He also did a similar interview on Talksport. All though the reasons he gave are valid, he had seemed to forgotten why he left Cheltenham Town. Perhaps he'd still have been in a job if he hadn't started on a black bouncer outside a nightclub.

Anyway, Barnet triumphed in the Herts Senior Challenge Cup Final last night, without Mad Dog's assistance. Reports that Underhill was filled with chants of "Are You Watching Martin Allen" are, at present, unconfirmed.

Quite brilliant. Unique. He may not be everyone's cup of tea. But ill always have a lot of time for him. Alongside pardew, dillon even Wally downes he played a part in where we are now.

As always, he brings a dynamism and freshness that works for a while. Short sharp shock tactics are his game.

If your (lower league) team is lacking spirit (tenacity and flair?) and needs a kick up the backside then there are few better than Martin Allen. But it won't last long.

Isn't that the truth of that approach to pretty much any managerial position.

Royal Rother As I told Spacey many years ago, during his last season at Reading he was regarded as a joke by the team of the time. He can certainly have a very positive impact when he first arrives, can't take that away from him, but his aggressive style loses him respect after a while.

His average time in a managerial job (excl Notts Co of course) is now less than 10 months so he will do very well to last the 12 months roadrunner suggests.

I suppose he has some slight entertainment value but personally speaking I think the guy's a Grade 1 pillock.

nicely put
