El Classico-English style

by Victor Meldrew » 03 May 2011 21:57

Will the Premier League showdown of Chelsea v Man Utd on Sunday be a classic?
There will be similarities with the Spanish one:-
One big mouth manager moaning beforehand about referees, one classier man altogether just talking about football.
There will be divers galore on both sides with Man Utd's top diver Nani probably out Tom Daleying any of the renowned Chelsea versions.
Will one big mouth manager just play one up even though they are at home?
Will Rooney and Giggs flap their arms like Ronaldo when they don't get a decision?

There has been a lot of criticism on here about the Spanish games so let's hope for a game of total football on Sunday to show the world that our Premier League is what Sky keeps telling us,the best in the world.

Rooney acts 3 times as if he has had a broken leg and yet miraculously gets up and runs around like a demented dog.
Giggs remonstrates with the lino then asks the ref to book a player.
No,English Premiership players are the ultimate sportsmen, not like those Spaniards,my a**e.

Don't think Giggs is English, tbf

This is about as classico as the 3 Real-Barca games I recently wasted 270 minutes of my life on. The title went to United after 38 seconds.

I was referring to the English Premier league as opposed to English players.
Good to see that although the commentators seem to regard Giggs as a god the ref finally booked him,not for disputing every decision but for time wasting.
All credit to Giggs though for having the energy at 37 not only to last 90 minutes on the pitch but also for servicing some young bird (allegedly).

Pleased United won.

Not liked Chelsea at all since Abramovich arrived - something nasty and tacky about the club. It's probably down to Peter Kenyon and all that "global domination in 5 years" stuff - or maybe Ashley Coe/John Terry - not really sure.

You could be describing Man Utd there.
