Avram Grant - "The Relegator"?

by T.R.O.L.I. » 16 May 2011 07:26

Are there any other managers who have been relegated from any of the professional leagues in consecutive seasons with different clubs?

Perhaps Avram has taken on Nigel Quashie's nickname from a few years ago....

I can raise you John Gorman; was manager of Swindon, got sacked, then managed Bristol City later that season; both teams got relegated from that division (Championship or its then equivilent iirc) that season.

And I think Joe Kinnear did the same thing (managed 2 teams in the same division in the same season and both got relegated) with Wimbledon and Luton around the same time (but I could be wrong on that one)

I could re raise you a Paul Hart. Failed to win 60 of his last 76 games as a manager according to Wiki. With Pompey in 09/10, Swindon this year and almost Palace last year as well.

No-one could beat Harty for sheer rubbishness. Should any club appoint him next season then stick a fiver on them to get relegated.

Easy point too in the South Twyford sack race unless you forget to choose him when the opportunity arises!
