Our fans at Stevenage

by leicsRoyal » 28 May 2011 13:07

Sky have just reported that Stevenage are only taking 3,000 fans to their play off final this afternoon, at Old Trafford.

When we played them in the cup the crowd was 6,614, with our allocation only 1,800.

Was this actually our biggest away following of the season without actually knowing it?

 Biggest game in their history and they're only taking 3,000? And we know of 2 of them! LOLz.

I've got to admit, I was one of the many that stood on the Stevenage terraces that day.

I stood at the end of the terrace nearest to the Reading contingent and at half time had to walk the length of it to the toilets. Whilst walking along there were so many people in RFC colours and not at all worried.

Very poor show only taking 3,000 to a play off final if they really have that many more fans, or did Reading really take that many to Stevenage?

Today's play-off final has a pay on the day option, so I think it's a bit premature to criticise Stevenage fans until you see how many there are in the ground at kick-off. If there are only 3,000 that would be shocking (unless of course they could only buy tickets from TicketZone).

(b) Reading's last two away attendances have been greater than at Stevenage as well as Man City.

Realised I'd missed the point, but didn't quite get the edit in in time!

I'm not suprised it is pay on the day, there could be around 65,000 empty seats!

I really do not understand the logistics of this. Is it the occasion or a visit to the ground which is more important.

They could possibly have used our ground or others with a 20/24K capacity.

Lower league supporters aren't as easily ripped off by inflated ticket prices.

Good on them for telling them where to stick their £46 tickets.

Also, surely the costs of using Old Trafford (with 90% of the seats empty) will hit the profits for each club?

Big accident on the M6 held the Stevenage coaches up.

I'm very pleased for Stevenage!

They were incredibly hospitable to us earlier in the season, they let our fans in the home end with no trouble at all. Not to forget that they gave us an incredibly tight game! Was definitely one of the best away trips in a while!

Congratulations!

I am from Stevenage. Being so close to London most of them support Arsenal or Spurs. No doubt they will gain more support having progressed up the League. They are a relatively new club so they are certainly punching above their weight. I only started supporting Reading because I'm a glory hunter.

Stevenage Chairman has said that they don't even have on-line ticketing facilities due to their rapid rise from non-League to League 1.
