Is there no escape from this idiocy?

by Jerry St Clair » 29 May 2011 17:16

Christ

readingfc.co.uk If you want to join in with a familiar 'Back The Boys and make some noise' at Wembley then you might like to be in your seat at 2:30pm on Monday!

Wembley will sound very familiar to our 40,000 fans, because our stadium announcer Paul Allen will be out on the pitch to say 'Back The Boys and make some noise' at that time, no doubt followed by a massive 'You R's!'

You could simply sit or stand in the concourse if it offends you so much. There are 40000 Reading supporters there tomorrow and not all will be curmudgeons with no spirit of fun about them.

Well I'll be in my seat by about 2.00pm and I'll be singing Don't Stop Believing as well. I'll do anything it takes to spur the boys on and will be vocal from kick off to final whistle - whatever the result - so apologies to those who happen to be sitting around me!

Will the Swansea equivilent also be doing whatever it is he/she does?

Could there be a battle of the mic people?

Will Kingsley and Cyril the Swan have a Gladiator stylee fight to the death in the centre circle?

Will Simon Cowell immediately decide that battling football mascots is THE next big Saturday night family entertainment programme for ITV as a result?

What time does the game start again?

Come on! A lion vs a swan too one-sided to ever happen...

...but I'd watch it!

Swans have long, fragile necks - if Kingsley goes for Cyril's neck he's a dead cert.

I think the insides of Kingsley with the best win to fight ratio got fired sadly.

Highlighted by the Club on Facebook today : "This sums up the incredible support so let’s focus on next season and keep the support rolling! Let’s get to 20,000 followers on here by tomrrow night."

Yes, lets - because the worth of a football team is so well demonstrated by the number of people adding themselves to what is basically a marketing database.

Oh yes.

Just wish they'd switch the effin PA off and give the fans a chance.

Disappointing. Realised early on that whilst hospitality is all very nice I'd have much rather been out with everyone where I could stand and go mad - got a few glares from some in front of me for swearing loudly at the ref numerous times.

In the first half had a group of 5 brain-dead dick-heads in their early 20s sat behind us, who spent the whole time chatting about the parties they'd been to and what computer games they play. Suspect they may have been Swansea reserve team players - few people in the world are as unpleasant as groups of footballers.

Went in for half-time drinks and had top endure a chatty woman on our table coming out with glib inanities "Oh, dear, they're not defending very well, are they?" when I was hardly in the mood to chat so superficially. Didn't this woman realise it was my team that was 3-0 down, and that it mattered to me? But as I was "on duty" had to play along ......

Moved seats in the second half and it was better, but still an unsatisfactory experience - the best bit of the day for me was the 45 minutes at the Green Man earlier in the day. So I've learnt a valuable lesson ......

Even the luncheon was a bit disappointing.

That does sound pretty disappointing, and its what I've experienced whenever I have done hospitality at the Mad Stad. And I know what you mean about having to make inane small talk with inane small people on occasions; its part of my job that I hate (but hey, its called "networking" so it must be done....)

Where I come from a "jolly" is something that you want to do and enjoy .... but you're letting yourself down. The invitation was accepted a good 8 weeks ago - how come someone as obsessed as you hasn't caught onto it until after it's happened?

Not easily as it was accepted so long ago - but the real question is why you think I have to justify myself to feed your obsession.
