Scholes was lucky to play in a team that made him look better than he was

In 99 he missed the final as his indiscipline shone through with him serving a suspension

08 did he even play?

Both Gerrard & Lampard have SCORED in CL finals

Yes, he played, roughly 90 minutes in 08' before Giggs replaced him for Extra time!

and as posted above, Scholes got the goal that got United to the final!

That's a real shameGreat player, will be missed.
Also, I always understood he planned to play a season at Olham Athletic at the end of his career.
Shame that never came around.

Been busy m8, don't tend to spend all day on here.

Still stands though, Scholes > Gerrard > Lampard.

His volley from outside the box from a corner at Bradford (?) is one that definitely sticks in the mind.

TheMaraudingDog Typical and very dignified of Scholes to make a quiet announcement and retire. Could easily have announced it mid season and had a big fuss made of him.

His pomp was 98 to 05 where he'd have got in any team in the world. Some of his goals were unreal.

Shame that Big Foot was just a bit too young to really appreciate Scholes in his prime.

Agree with this. Absolute no shock to me that zidane, xavi, iniesta has said he is possibly the greatest midfielder ever. Iniesta asked for his shirt on saturday - says it all.

Truly undervalued in England, absolute stunning player in his prime. Have a look at that goal at boro, or the volley at villa.

Brilliant player one of the best this country has ever produced. That idiot Sven used to play him on the left or as a holding midfielder. We should have been building a team around him not Gerard and Lampard. I wasn't until he quit international football people realised how good he was.

Numpty? and I thought I was immature..

If you have nothing decent to say about Scholes, just bugger off, he's a legend to the game, any neutral football fan can see that!

Just for you: Paul Scholes is a nasty little piece of shit (though he could hit a decent pass).

Just watched on SS1 him scoring all 100 premier league goals. Mostly tap ins to be honest
