And why include midfielders on a topic that is titled "Running out of strikers"?

Doesn't the change in strike-force impact on Reading FC?

Doesn't losing Long impact on Reading FC?

Now Bothroyd is apparently going to Everton that's one less place
for Shane to go (maybe he'll stay, for example...)

Why B!TCH incessantly?

I should have said TOP-SCORERS in the thread header, but I
mentioned the BBC top 15 SCORERS in the OP. I was
making the point that already about 50% of the season's
15 top-scorers have gone

So what? We all know that the best three teams (and their goalscorers) have left the division.

Currently we have the likes of Mackail-Smith, Cole, Campbell, Lambert, etc to replace them. So what.

For some reason I can see Church getting over 20 goals next year. He's not had a great season, but he's always been an understudy to Long and Hunt. The season before he was first choice, he seemed to play with alot more confidence and proved he can score goals at this level. I tjust feel that McDermott will work with him over the summer and if Long does leave, he will be more confident as he will likely be starting most games.

I don't get the point? :| Successful Championship strikers are always going to move on, especially seeing as it's quite likely that several would already have been in the promoted teams squads.

It doesn't necessarily weaken the opposition because those teams who lose someone will likely bring in someone else. There's also good strikers likely to come down from the Prem or come up from League One.

All this really tells anyone is that the top scorers for next season will be quite a different list to this season. But then I'd have thought that would be blindingly obvious.

Unless the point is we are running out of options for bringing in proven CHampionship goalscorers. But then I'd have thought it's fairly obvious we aren't going to be doing that because we simply can't afford to.

What are you going to do when ShLong does go? Will you get sexual feelings for another RFC player?

If i was posting knee-jerk or bitchy comments then you might have a point. I look upon them as sarcastic and posted to get a reaction from your good self and you normally oblige.

I am still struggling to grasp the discussion that will take place on this discussion forum. As has been said, good players who score goals with teams who dont get promoted will probably get snapped up by a prem team or a team getting promoted i.e. morrisson to narrrrich.

I think you might just have demonstrated why "started 2010-11 season in Championship" is not a particularly interesting statistic.

Not to mention a few of those listed didn't even start the season in the Championship (Hooper, Cleverly and Morrison to start with and probably others).

I think it's interesting to note how many of the top scorers, in all divisions, seem to be wingers and midfielders these days. I guess it just comes down to the fashion of playing variations of 4-3-3/4-5-1 which mean goals have to come from elsewhere more often.

Just as you would have been astonished if I told you Gylfi was going to score 20 goals two years ago, or Long 20 this season.
