This happens every year. Any striker that is young enough and who scores a few goals in the Championship immediately becomes a PL target. Clearly the reason is that the step up from League 1 or 2 to the PL is generally too large and so realistically PL clubs have to buy Championship players or shop abroad. It is hardly rocket science.

The good news is that there is a blank sheet of paper next season for strikes in the Championship and new talents will emerge. Let's hope Manset, Hunt and Church are amongst them!

Well two of the top four did leave by the closing of the summer transfer window and the top scorer was never going to leave because he was out with a serious injury.
