roadrunner Could be a lot worse to be honest. At least they're making money from naming rights that supports their ambitious spending.

What naming rights? It is now named after their owners so there is no income associated with this.

The Thai duty-free company owns the Championship club via Asia Football Investments and is already the Foxes' main shirt sponsor.

But King Power have now become the club's new stadium naming rights partner too, taking over the rights from Walkers.

"The announcement of King Power's further support to Leicester City is tremendous news and once again underlines the commitment the owners have made to the club," Leicester's chief executive Susan Whelan told the club's official website.

That doesn't back your argument up that they are paying for the rights - even if they do, it goes straight back into their pocket

No it doesn't TBM, but it does say they also sponsor the shirts and I doubt very much the club take a loss just to have their own brand on them.

It could mean that cos they piled X amount into the club already they feel they had the right to change the stadium name......it doesn't say they paid more. Plus Walkers are still involved, just dont have the name.

What it probably means is that Leicester have got less from them for both shirts and stadium then they would have got from two separate companies.

Svlad Cjelli What it probably means is that Leicester have got less from them for both shirts and stadium then they would have got from two separate companies.

It is effectively the same as Madejski naming the stadium after himself (done that) and then having his name on the shorts as well. The club get no extra money but lose the income from Waitrose.

Just seems a bit pointless really, but then if they are planning to keep ploughing money in anyway losing a few quid by not having outside company sponsorship is pretty irrelevant.

Yes, but what I had more in mind was selling the shirt sponsorship to them for £X, then touting the stadium rights around to everyone at an asking price of £Y and not having anyone interested, so going back to the company who's sponsored the shirts and saying "Do you want the stadium rights as well?"

What they'd get for that would be a whole lot less than £Y.

Svlad Cjelli so going back to the company who's sponsored the shirts and saying "Do you want the stadium rights as well?"

But you seem to be missing my point. King Power own Leicester City. So they are paying sponsorship to themselves.

Didn't Auto trader sponser the shirts in the 1990s or did I dream that up?

Do you know the actual terms of the sponsorship deal then?

Large Corporates that I've worked for have trouble getting anything out of different parts of the groups at a discounted rate but get pressured into favouring their sister companies.

It may be that King Power are paying the same rates as Walkers but they just want to get the benefit as opposed to a totally different company.
