Championship club sizes?

i was reading this on another forum i use and had an anger problem by the end of it. this is one of the posters "official" list of clubs size for the championship:

"Well as we all know league position is important but nobody really remembers where teams finish, everyone remembers club sizes.

I thought I'd do the Championship as it's possibly one of the hardest to calls. My say is the final say but you lot can put your tables across and I'll tell you how wrong and why you're wrong. Any questions are mine are welcome."

sure reading aren't the biggest of clubs but surely we are bigger than barnsley and millwall?
when we were in the premiership we filled the madejski stadium every week whilst the likes of boro and birmingham had empty seats gallor when they were struggling and would only fill their grounds when the big boys came to visit. reading in my eyes are on a par with your birmingham's, cardiff city's, coventry city's.

is it about trophies won? or is it about the here and now; attendances, potential for catchment area, league placings over previous 10 years?

how would you list the 24 clubs in our division, and do you agree with this "official" list (from a norwich fan of all people)?

He's obviously got his reasons behind the list but if its an "official" club size guide - then average attendance is all people need to look at

Cardiff shouldn't be that high, nor should Bristol City, Barnsley and Millwall.

Being a Reading fan, i hate the whole size and history arguements that i've had with my mates over the last 20 years so I'm not going to do a list but after our last 10 years we should be middle of the road on that list. About the same as Cardiff.

Barnsley have made the top division, and an FA Cup semi final recently - they have crap support though.....so depends how you look at them

Derby i would say are in the top 3 - does he not remember the Clough era?

Why does it matter to you so much what "size" the club is? Or do you only deign to support "big" clubs?

Big clubs are the ones who are under massive media pressure to win everything every year, and so sack their managers the moment it doesn't happen; they're the ones who need to buy and buy big and so end up blowing £35M on unproven strikers with discipline problems; they're the ones that attract the attention of overseas investors and get purchased by them in dodgy leveraged buy-outs, lumbering them with endless debt.

I'm perfectly happy supporting a relatively small club that surprises everyone by persistently over-achieving, thank you very much. You can take your "big" clubs and stick them where the sun don't shine.
