No Fixed Abode Hull and Burnley are bigger than Reading, so that should drop you another couple of places.

You need to give explanations, you can;t just say clubs are bigger than others. 9000 posts, you thought you would've learnt :/

No need for an explaination really m8. Traditionally Hull and Burnley are bigger clubs than Reading. Football d8s back to the 1800's, not since 2005.

Yeah it started in 2003.

Last season Hull had a higher average attendance. Back in the 40s/50s they used to get about 50,000 at Boothferry park.

Honours and achievements
Hull FC Honours
FA Cup Semi-finalists: 1930
Championship/First Division/Second Division (2nd Tier)
Play-off winners: 2008
League One/Second Division/Third Division (3rd Tier)
Champions: 1966
Runners-up: 1959, 2005
Promoted: 1985
League Two/Third Division/Fourth Division (4th Tier)
Runners-up: 1983, 2004
Football League Third Division North
Champions: 1933, 1949
Football League Trophy
Runners-up: 1984

Well-supported historically doesn't mean jack shit - winning trophies means big. They haven't won anything since the Third Division in 1966 - play-off finals don't count - and only two other Leagues prior to that, all at Div 3 level.

Reading are not in the "big" bracket either, FWIW, before you can come back with that one.

So it IS the amount of fans that go to games? - then how come the blokes ordered his list as he did?

Well he obviously has his own theory about how big clubs are. Most Reading fans believe the club is bigger than it actually is. Also Hull fans support Hull. Reading fans support Reading and another club. Hull is much more of a footballing and sporting city than Reading is.

Isn't that just cos the nearest (bigger) club to Hull is about 60 miles away

Barry the bird boggler Why aren't Brighton top, everyone knows they're the biggest club in the country....

The fact that they have sold 18,000 season tickets certainly puts them above us, though.

New Stadium effect + clubs showing some ambition in the transfer market.

We didn't get close to 18,000 STs until we got in the prem. In fact, I vividly remember when our average gates eventually reached 5 figures, so I guess we had around 5 or 6,000 STs in the early days at the MadStad.

Bristol City shouldn't be above Palace.

Well-supported historically doesn't mean jack shit - winning trophies means big. .

Winning trophies makes you famous, not big. That's really about fan-base.

Forest have won the European cup twice, after all, yet it doesn't make them a bigger club than someone like Everton.

Oxford and Swindon have won the league cup. Are they bigger than Reading?
