Euro U-19s

by Starfish » 20 Jul 2011 22:17

The finals of the European U-19s championships started today. Exciting, eh? Admittedly, I only know about it because the Republic of Ireland qualified and won their first group game today with a 2-1 victory over Greece. They also have hosts Romania and the Czech Republic in their group (the Czechs beat Romania 3-1 in today's other game).

You missed: The CONCACAF Gold Cup, the Toulon tournament and the Under 17 Euros (if you count May as summer). The U20s World Cup is coming up soon too. Never let anyone tell you that the summer between World Cup and Euro years is quiet football-wise

Czechs won their game tonight to win the group. Ireland drew 0-0 against Romania to finish second to reach the semi-final - they will play Spain who have looked very hot so far.
