Want to enjoy a pint or two while you watch the football? Non-league fare at York Road, Maidenhead is the way ahead. Only £10 to get in too, so you can spend the additional £15-odd you'd waste watching Reading on 5 pints. You can also stand up.

Funny how the bar at Guilfest was able to make use of a contraption that dispensed 12 pints at a time. Queues more than managable. Why Wembley, the Mad Stad and others don't do the same is beyond me. They even had them at hamphire's old County Ground in the 1980s. Or is it because the law does not want to encourage alcohol consumption at football?

Fox Talbot
Ian Royal I don't like drinking quickly, although it's the best way with the piss they serve at the Mad stad.

I'd like to be able to turn up, get a pint and go out and watch the build up to and start of the game, rather than having to hang around in a crowded concourse. I'd then like to be able to grab another pint at half time (given it takes 15 minutes just to get one if you don't leave early) and take it back to my seat so I can drink it in peace.

Most importantly however, I'd like some decent fricking beer in the first place.

Maybe add 'can we bring our own cans in please' to the list of demands!?

Presumably as long as you pour it into a plastic cup and dispose of the bottle / can before you enter you can do just that. I don't think they can refuse you take in food / drink can they?

Might try it with a nice bottle of Deuchars or something. :D

You'd imagine they can, same as any other licensed premises

Didn't realise you were able to drink whilst watching the football. I've enjoyed the odd pint of real ale at AFC Wimbledon and Tooting & Mitcham but pretty sure neither clubs allow you to take booze out of the clubhouse.

What's the highest level in the football league pyramid this is allowed :?:

The Sporting Events (Control of Alcohol etc.) Act 1985 prevents:-
•drunken entry into a football ground (which, in practice, to be an arrestable offence includes disorderly behaviour);
•the consumption of alcohol within view of the playing area including, during the restricted period (15 minutes before the start of the event to 15 minutes after the end of the event), rooms within the ground from which the event may be directly viewed;
•the consumption of alcohol on certain coaches, trains and motor vehicles travelling to a designated football match;
•the possession of fireworks or flares.

The Act applies to the following sporting events:-
1.Association football matches in which one or both of the participating teams represents a club which is for the time being a member (whether a full or associate member) of the Football League, the Football Association Premier League, the Football Conference National Division, the Scottish Football League or Welsh Premier League, or represents a country or territory.
2.Association football matches in competition the Football association Cup (other than in the preliminary or qualifying round).

The Act only applies in England and Wales.

The Act does not apply at grounds where a match is being watched on a screen as part of a 'beam track'.

Short answer to Red - Maidenhead are the most local senior football club where you can enjoy a beer while you watch the game.

That depends where you're local to.

TBF they're not a million miles away from me, it's either them, Sutton United or Boreham Wood for me I think.

Just as a sideline, the above six words mean that the Olympics are covered by this legislation.

Two tricky acronyms there. Hampton and Richmond I've worked out (thanks good shout) but MMC still has me stumped.

He means MMS. That should be much easier to work out.
