Posh don't rate us

by Jackson Corner » 26 Jul 2011 13:40

Just stumbled across this when comparing ticket prices in the championship. Peterborough rate Crystal Palace a side that just avoided the drop as a more atractive fixture than the side who reached last seasons play off final?

No they don't - they reckon that there'll be a higher crowd for their first home match back in the Championship (on a Saturday afternoon) than there will be when we visit them on a Tuesday evening in March.

TBH, the more clubs that "downgrade" our category the better - cheaper prices all round.

I hope all our opponents have the same attitude.

Pretty sure most clubs in the division aren't banking on massive crowds when Reading come to town. Can't say I'm fussed either way.

Even mid week I reckon we would take more there than Blackpool and Boro.

And again, if we do then it'll mean more RFC fans get to save money.

20 quid to stand on a terrace. 23 quid for a seat at the Mad Stad. Makes us look good value.

No terrace in the away end next season.

According to my info, the Moy’s End Terrace has a standing capacity of 3,475.

The away terrace is to be replaced by 2,500 capacity all-seated stand, with concourse and modern facilities. Included in the rear of the stand will be premises for a university level STEM Centre for the teaching of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics. Work is due to start in November or December this year. If required a further 1,000 seats in the Main Stand will also be given to away fans, but if the away support is small the new stand can be split with home fans using half of it.

Whilst this end is closed, away fans may be given up to 2,000 seats in the Main Stand. As we play there in March, this is what'll happen to us.

It looks like a load of nonsense. Watford is a category A game but a fairly local derby v Coventry is category C.

I am guessing it is more to do with when the game is rather than the opposition. Many of the non category A games are midweek games and some are in the depth of winter

The winters can be very harsh in that part of the world.

Watford is only 10 miles further than Coventry. 67 miles certainly isn't "fairly local"!

Reading vs Pompey is a fairly local game - tell me how far that is?
