Interesting watching West Ham on BBC. Nolan, Parker, Taylor playing well and they're producing some smart football at times. On the other hand Sears has been shite and Piquionne not much better. Cardiff having the better of the 10 minutes before half time and Upton Park very quiet. Audible discontent when Allardyce long-balls are launched from the back.

Annoyed about losing the clean sheet for Tomkins on FF but pleased that the result might temper the pundits' assumption that Wet Spam are going to breeze back up.

West Ham could well keep Robert Green after that. Could be a blessing in disguise for West Ham; show the players and Allardyce that this won't be a breeze. They definitely still have the quality to win this division.

From seeing a couple of matches and a few highlights... looks like this season's going to be a tough year. More physical and harder to get promotion.

Reading are in with absolutely NO chance against clubs that invest in personnel and have big squads - sadly this season there are a LOT more of them. Get any ideas of play-offs or promotion out of your head now, then you won't be disappointed when it doesn't happen. We are an ipswich town, decent champ side that won't go up or down and produce a few youth players before selling them onto the big boys and hoping for a few more to come through.

Top-of-the-league Ipswich Town?

It does look like a very competitive league this year. Loads of teams seem to have started off the season optimisically with new managers, players, stadiums or promotion to give them some momentum. However, Forest, Cardiff and Barnsley look like they might be on the slide a bit. There is still room for us to sneak into a play-off position.

Not sure how Cardiff winning 1-0 at West Ham proves any evidence of a slide.

We hear both statements every season and yet we still see surprises. Anyone can beat anyone in this league. We could be bottom third come February and still reach the play-offs.

Ipswich are spending money though.

They aren't going OTT with it tho, sensible investment. How a club at this level should be operating.

Really? They're attendances haven't been that great in recent years and if our outgoings are so much more than our income then Ipswich are in a very similar boat to ours, and they are throwing money about that we only wish we could.

I thought they made a £14m loss last year? Doesn't sound like sensible investment to me and not how a club should be operating.
