Championship Match Reports and Opinions

by The Rouge » 15 Aug 2011 10:58

There is no replacement for watching 90 minutes of a game, but as a huge football fan, who (probably stupidly) places sizeable season long spread bets in the championship, I would really like to get a bit more insight on how games go. I find a lot of match reports list a few key moments, tell you about the goals and maybe give a quote, but they hardly scratch the surface and I would love to get more info. Any tips for in-depth match reports?

I'm pretty sure you would already be aware of it but the Football League Paper contains decent length reports on every Football League match and plenty of other interviews etc.

This week it has a farewell interview with Shane Long and another with Mikele Leigertwood. As with any paper I don't always agree with their interpretation of the game nor their player markings but their comment on Reading's match at Leicester saying Mills 'played a lot of daft balls from deep' was accurate. All in all it does at least give comprehensive coverage of the Football League.

Dunno. Given their choice of drinking location, I'd have guessed that you might be in a better position to comment!

Thanks for advice. On theseventytwo - am I being blind or are there just some match reports from last week up at the moment?

Who's of the opinion that Nigel Atkins, Southampton manager, is a bit of a smug barsteward?

Bit too overconfident for my liking.

Heading for a fall?

I hope.

read a good little description of him the other day in the WSC season preview, can't remember the details but there was something along the lines of 'management consultant'

yeah he's an idiot
