T.R.O.L.I. Watched it down my local - absoultely drenched in beer when the 5th went in.
Amazing to think about the relative successes of the two teams since then though - Germany have been to a WC final, two WC semis and an EC final whereas England haven't got past the quarter final stage (and got spanked 4-1 at SA 2010). One wonders if they'd have had that success if the result had been reversed (not that I'm suggesting England would have done the same if we'd lost 5-1 that day).

I'm guessing you read the BBC article then.

Svlad Cjelli I think we all remember it so much because it was so unexpected and exceptional - so thsi was teh blip result rather than performances since.

M-U-R-T-Y Haha, well fair play on making every point the BBC article made in that one paragraph.

Reading beat Port Vale that afternoon, and I watched the England match from a hotel in Manchester with The Cube and a couple of others (apologies for forgetting if you're nobbers!) before the ITV Digital Footie Quiz filming the next day.

Mr Angry It was after this game that I rang BBC Radio Stoke, and suggested that the Port Vale Manager, Brian Horton, should consider his position in the light of the result.....to be followed on by loads of Vale fans agreeing with me!.
