Being the saddo that i am, David Miskelly the keeper there played at the Madejski for Oldham during the petrol crisis. He came on as sub for Gary Kelly, Ding won 5-0 and Ashdown came on as sub for Ding in that game as well. Not many league games where both teams have used the sub keeper i'd imagine.

Oh and cracking strike.

Still my favourite Mad Stad chant ever....always makes me chuckle thinking about it.......sidenote to that game. Mate of mine stood to win £500 if we won 5-1. When Oldham hit the post in the final few mins, when it was 5-0, he nearly exploded with rage.

Indeed, we had a crazy sequence of home games where we were scoring for fun. Didn't we win the next one 4-0 or something like that?

I'm fairly sure there was a photo after this game of Butler posing with a matchball signed by all the players, with the welcome addition of a prominent cock and balls

Reading 0-1 Colchester, long range freekick from Gavin Johnson which he struck from the central reservation of the M4. M8s Day. I remember all this kinda sh*t. I didn't take any M8s to M8s Day. You do the M8th.

Got bloody soaked at that game, but it cemented my everlasting love for Rougier, he was completely unplayable in the torrential rain.

We were losing in that game, 1-2? I was so pissed off. Back then I took football far too seriously. It meant everything. Great feeling to fight back and win 4-3 though, and the atmosphere was superb.

We scored 2,3,4,5 in successive home games and then 5 not 6 in the one after
