The Chris Foy appreciation thread.

by sandman » 23 Oct 2011 17:45

Inspired by the Phil Dowd appreciation thread after the Play off final.

What a performance from Foy in the QPR - Chelsea match. My only criticisms would be that he didn't send off Terry for his disgraceful challenge on Kenny and Luiz for being a tw@t. A fair and unbiased display. Well done Chris.

If the first was a sending off offence, so was the Southampton handball last night.

Villas-Boas already feeling the pressure blaming Foy after his faultless display and saying he was influenced by the crowd. You'll be getting used to crowds when the FA deal with you Andre.

Foy's only mistake was not giving Luis a 2nd yellow for his ridiculous dive for a penalty.

Very poor display of discipline by Chelsea today, and, as usual, its Drogba who lets his team-mates down with an awful challenge in a totally stupid part of the pitch.

No doubt Chelsea fans will be bleating today that the ref cost them the game, but I'd say a combination of terrible indiscipline and even worse finishing (Anelka free header from 6 yards anyone???) that cost them.

For me Foy's performance today sees him surpass Howard Webb as this country's leading official, nay I'd go as far to say Pierluigi Collina could learn a thing or two from our Chris.

I'd even say he's the best ref ever. Certainly in the top three along with Anders Frisck and Tom Henning Ovrebo.

I actually think the sending off of Boswinga was more than a little harsh, although would agree that Luiz should have been sent off so perhaps justice - in terms of numbers - was done.

For the record though, just how crap are QPR? Totally outplayed by 9 men for the entirety of the 2nd half.

was a 50-50 one I thought - if he'd got a yellow, when you had another look you'd think "hang on that could've been a red card"

might've done if he hadn't gone down that; otherwise probably just looked like theatricals

Maybe, but my bucket of bothered is a little empty on this one, tbh.

SymonsO Thought he had a very decent game.

Got the big decisions right and did his best to keep up with a very petulant and aggressive chelsea team.

Big decisions right? So why did he send off Bosingwa and was very inconsistent throughout the game. Any neutral could see that.

No Fixed Abode So why did he send off Bosingwa

For denying SWP a clear goal scoring opportunity by pulling his shirt? I'm surprised you didn't at least see the game on the telly m9

Oh come on, even with your blinkered view that was never a sending off.

:?: I wish your mob had won yesterday, to wipe the smug lesbian grin off of Colin's face, so TBF I'd guess you were more blinkered than me m8. Definite red and you'd be saying the same if it had been one of their defenders doing it to one of your strikers

If it was a foul, it was a red card. And it was a foul.

Was it not a foul then?

If it was, SWP was then denied a clear goalscoring opportunity (Terry was never going to get back to cover) and so its a red card.

BIG difference between that and the Saints defender "only" getting a yellow on sat evening is the "clear goalscroing opportunity" bit.

No defence of Drogba's challenge?
