McDermott called Selhurst a difficult place to come and get points at. I'd just heard Pardew saying the same about the Britania. In fact, virtually all managers say this about all clubs. So when exactly, other than in the cup playing a team 5 leagues below them, would a manager say 'It's an OK place to go to' or 'Yeah, the home fans are quiet and the players are useless so we look forward to coming here'.

What other football cliche's are as uninformative and oft trotted out as this one?
