Rumbelows Sprint Challenge

by PistolPete » 21 Nov 2011 20:02

If it was held this season, who'd win it?

Money would have to be on Theo Walcott, but Gabby Agbonlahor and Javier Hernandez might have a say. Maybe Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale too?

I seem to remember it was 100m, 60m would make more sense to me...

Can't find the link but they tested this last season to an extent - not a 'sprint challenge' but by recording the fastest speeds reached by players in games.

Iirc, Walcott edged Mario Balotelli, Gareth Bale and Matthew Etherington, amongst others.

Nobody. Rumbelows doesn't exist anymore.

I think Bale looks the quickest with the ball.

No idea who would actually win a 100 or 60m sprint though.

having watch Kaboul make Agbonlahor look like Alex Pearce last night, he'd be my bet.

He'd get to 90 meters ahead of the rest and then trip himself up.

Never really noticed how massive he is before. Now I get why the Spurs fans call him Kaboom - massive, quick and full of power. On a side note, how ridiculous is Benoit Assou-Ekotto's hair?

Anyone saying a white boy would win the challenge is a mental.

It would be like having a white Frenchman as the fastest European

Football's a global game though, European athletics isn't :|

Bit like saying "but the fastest kid in some prep school in the middle of the highlands is white"

On that note, when they did a speed analysis two or three seasons ago, Walcott came out quickest, not far ahead of Sol Campbell.

Ben Amos, United'd young keeper, would be in the Olympic sprint squad but chose football. He's done a sub 10sec 100m before.

tbf, I'd move pretty sharpish too if Sol was chasing me.
