Looking to get this.

Is it any good? No problems with payment etc?

Unless your an exile who needs match commentary then the answer is no. Videos are shorter than they ever use to be and have gotten progressively worse over the years with much of the content available on the Get Reading website.

The FL's app looks good for those with tablets - but not paid the premium for video on this. Has anyone else tried this?

How big is the archive section? Can we watch highlights from the 2001-02 season etc or does it not work like that?

The highlights are almost always longer than the FL Show and you have the opportunity to watch the entire match after the event too. It's good for listening to matches if you aren't in the Reading area. It only costs about £35 quid a year.

Make up your own mind.

Doubt it goes back that far... at least a couple of season's worth of highlights though. Can check laterz if you want.

Reading Player doesn't have highlights from many past seasons to be honest. I was looking forward to re-viewing some classics encounters at the madejski but couldn't due to them not being available. Highlights go back until the 2009/10 season.

Quote fail!

Do we know if they only hold a couple of seasons and purge the oldest each season, or if they aer slowly building up an archive but only started doing so in 09/10?

I've just checked - as Ian said - they go back to 09/10

I actually think that the coverage is pretty good. I can't get BBCB down here in my house in Ringwood - although I can go outside and just get it in my car - So I essentially need to pay for it to listen to matches. But what I do like, if I can't listen to the match at the weekend/evening, is to have a little corner of one of my screens at work showing the whole match, whilst i work of course. The quality isn't that great - but for someone who had to sacrifice their season ticket for the 1st time in donkeys years it makes do

This. I live in Manchester so listen to the games I don't get to up here. Sometimes you can be forgiven for wondering whether or not the match is actually taking place as Dellor is a bit rubbish and doesn't tend to focus on the game.

You can, however, listen to commentary for many other games, watch the whole match back 48 hours later and highlights from the next day. but to be honest, for highlights, I tend to get The Football League Show on iPlayer on a Sunday.
