End of rugby at Madejski Stadium?

by riverroyal » 24 Dec 2011 16:30

Just reading a column in he paper today about the Olympic stadium. It states it could be used for rugby. However, if it was then a Premier League football club would not be able to share the ground as the PL are soon to bring in a rule stating that PL clubs can not share with rugby teams.

If this happened what would happen if we got promoted? London Irish booted out? Loss of income for the club?

PL have no hope in hell of getting a ban to stick.

A quick search reveals that the article in question comes from a paper I would never read, and is written by Karen Brady. How trustworthy do we think she is? And what do Premier League rules have to do with West Ham? Based on the last time I saw them play, League 1 would be more likely.

watford would have the same problem. i really don't see why the premier league are sticking their noses in with ground sharing. it's extra income for the football clubs which has to be seen as a good thing, not the opposite.

will the premier league also try and stop old trafford being used for rugby league finals, and others grounds a like? of course they wont.

I think Saracens are leaving Watford in the next year or so and moving to Barnet copthall stadium which currently used for athletics and is the home ground for Kentish Town FC.

I also don't see what difference it makes, I know the pitch suffers for a short while but in the long term pitch damage is minimal. And as you say the income generated can only be a positive.
