SpaceCruiser I see that the BBC is still doing Match of the Day over the Xmas period, but I can't see any mention of the Football League Show being shown on Boxing Day or at any time over the New Year.

Why is this? A bit shocking of them to ignore the rest of the league.

Saying that, whenever there is a few Premier League games being played in midweek, or even a couple, the Match of the Day is on. But when there is a full program of football league games in midweek, they don't bother. Why not? :|

Because there's not time or resources, because of the unique way the BBC is funded, to edit down 36 matches which end at just before 10 pm into a coherent programme in time.

Yet, funnily enough, they never seem to struggle to find the resources to "edit down" their left wing news output, send 3 coach loads of staff to any war zone on the planet or up sticks and re-locate to Manchester.

^^^^^^routine stuff.

I've noticed they have a deliber8 bias towards Northern teams / teams with French players in.

And they prefer tougher sentences for those who fail to pay their TV licence ("slop buckets at the ready!") than those who set fire to homes whilst "Demonstrating" about "THE CUTS!!!!"

I can't stand The Football League Show opening sequence, studio set, and overall presentation of the show. I suppose the BBC should show some sort of highlights package of League football though.

Don't like it per se, but its better than any other league highlight show ever put on TV. So for that alone, I say "skillz" to the BBC

BBC won't bother competing the the FL rights when they're up again as it can't afford to do so, therefore - other than the quick clips they can use as part of the local news service programmes - it'll all go back to ITV. So that'll be a load of deep joy then.....

many choose to forget that the only reason the bbc screened the world cup final back in 1966 was to lend credence to the then sitting labour government.

Shocking.

Now we know why they didn't bother to screen it - they needed the money to pay Shearer and Hansen a fortune.

A BBC spokesman said the Boxing Day and January 2 Football League fixtures were not part of its deal and it was unable to schedule a show for New Year’s Eve’s games
