"An insider" tells the Daily Mail the show is to be axed, they then say it is going to be axed, even managing to include a twitter comment about Alan Hansen's salary in order to further their anti-BBC agenda (powered by Lord rothermere's desire to get a toehold in regional TV) but also include a quote from Manish Basin saying that nothing was decided.

At the moment we don't know anything for certain but I haven't seen a BBC denial since the Daily Mail story. Manish's earlier tweet merely said the programme was continuing to the end of the season. If the BBC let go of the rights the highlights of each game we can currently see on the BBC website will no longer be available.

I would think Channel Five could well be interested in picking up the terrestrial television rights.
