Orange boots

Is just the latest fashion trend in professional footballers or is there a more interesting / technical reason for the number of players running out with hi-vis orange flashes on their boots?

Probably 5 or 6 in total yesterday v. Ipswich and it got me wondering if there was some kind of tracking set-up using cameras / software that trains on and follows the motion; either for fitness / analysis purposes or perhaps more interestingly player modeling for use in games etc.?
