Actually I don't think it was intended to be a takeaway and certainly not the whole bird but a Reading skinhead decided otherwise!

RoyalBlue The pub on the river at York (can't remember the name). Did a fantastic takeaway turkey.

Terminal Boardom My favourite has to be the New Inn at Brentford. Remember being there back in 93 and suggesting to Ark Royal at 2.20 that it might be an idea to get into the ground. The pub was packed to the rafters. Just after getting in the ground, they closed the turnstiles!

Mr Optimist Had to go in the crappy seats above the terrace that day. What I remember most of that day is the buck tooth geordie simpleton's goal celebration in front of us & the fact that Blackie missed his first game for 50 years because of the lock out situation. He later claimed to have sneaked in the home end during the second half.

a copper on a police horse trying to drag a chap off the roof of the turnstile block as he tried to get in.

That was almost certainly a friend of mine. Last time I saw him at a football match he was being fromarched away from the ground at Tranmere in the play-off semis.
He is now a Managing Director at one of the world's largest investment banks, so I doubt he has time to get arrested at football matches these days.

LUX The Round Robin near Wigan's away end is probably the worst. It is basically a Berni Inn carvery. We were recommended to go to the George Orwell, supposedly a great Northern pub, but we didn't. My fault.

Someone was on 606 afterwards saying Blackie had got in on about 75 mins when they opened the exits.
