Motivations to supporting RFC

by mtalmage » 12 Jan 2012 16:02

Hello I am a massive Reading fan and have chosen to to my University Dissertation on what motivates Reading fans to initially start following the club (apart from them being the best team). I hope that fans of the club will be able to help out a fellow royal. To answer my questionnaire please follow the link below:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/PHSBWP7

I will be able to circulate the results of the questionnaire if you would like to see them.

Thanks

Matt

I'm sure there's the odd glory hunter among us, and perhaps I'm owed a whoosh here, but the answer is location, right :?:

Done this....

There are some proper LoLz in there... not meaning to take the piss, but I'm not sure you'll get many people strongly agreeing with the idea that
"One of the main reasons that I watch, read and/or discuss Reading Football Club is that I enjoy the beauty and grace of the team"
or
"I enjoy watching Reading games because to me they are a form of the arts"

but I may be proved wrong

Done but a not particularly well-put-together survey - quite unfriendly in places.

(PM me if you want hints on how to do a better survey!)

To be clear, I wasn't taking the piss out of the survey, it was more that I would struggle to believe that people would feel that way abotu the team right now, even if they love

Tokyo Sex Whale Need to follow a logical pattern mate - im getting confused and I bet some people get the 1-5 scale the wrong way round....

11. Read each statement carefully, and then indicate using the scale below how each item describes you, 1 being not descriptive of you at all and 7 being very descriptive of you.

10. Which of the following criteria influenced you most to start to support Reading Football Club? Please rank from 1 to 5 from the list below, with 1 being the biggest influence and 5 being the least. Please mark the others as 0.

That was one of my problems with is - highest is worst then immediately highest is best!

Also teh last question is set to one answer only - what happens if people go to games with family AND friends?

There seemed to me to be too many questions that were the same, betting, "wager" etc.

I think he knows in his head what he wants the answer to be or thinks the answer is and the survey answers are biased towards his own beliefs.

Yeh I got the same impression.

Agree betting is just a side issue for a bit of fun not a reason for going.

For Question 10... "Which of the following criteria influenced you most to start to support Reading Football Club?"

Where's the option of... "Promotion to the Prem because I'm one of those oxf*rd glory hunting fans!"

:?
