Tokyo Sex Whale Need to follow a logical pattern mate - im getting confused and I bet some people get the 1-5 scale the wrong way round....

10. Which of the following criteria influenced you most to start to support Reading Football Club? Please rank from 1 to 5 from the list below, with 1 being the biggest influence and 5 being the least. Please mark the others as 0.

I'm sure I mucked that up. My list for that question is a list of 0s and 5s.

I went along at first because I like football, Reading are the lcoal team, and I enjoyed the atmosphere and the football (this was at elm park). Maybe there are people who go along for the betting, or because they have self-esteem issues, but it seems a little unlikely.

Why would anyone start supporting a club so they can bet? How would supporting Reading make betting easier?

Barring our occasional promotion pushes, who would go to try and boost their self-esteem?

Even if self esteem issues were a factor - I would've thought it'd be unlucky to be a conscious thing so isn't going to be picked up by answering the question directly in such a survey.

But in surveys like this you have to ask such questions even if it's just to prove that they're not a factor.

My point was that asking the question was unlikely to yield a correct response - so you've proved nothing of the sort.

I support Reading FC because I used to have a girlfriend in Caversham. No real reason other than that. I still end up going to quite a few of the games despite the relationship with her ending about 10 years ago. Also she's not even into football.
