Sorry to dissent but I must be missing something. He can make the occassional good long pass, he has a great engine and gets back well.
But for me this is his worst season, regularly passes it out of play and offers very little tackling. This season we have been excellent at the back and our three strikers put in a lot of work rate. But we play with no midfield. Leigertwood is superb at ball winning and his occasional cameo runs but doesn't pass well. Therefore its hoofed over or played out though the full backs.
To me to laud Karacan, or acclaim him POTY, is banal as he is a midfielder who can't pass, can't tackle and certainly can't score in a season where our midfield is bypassed.bi should imagine his OPTA stats read like pass completion 12%,tackles made 0, tackle success rate 0%...
I don't like to criticise and I wouldnt add to a thread slagging anyone. But when the brilliance of McAnuff and Federici are glossed over, I am just bemused by the karacan of love. Unlike most slaggers I recognise players can improve and I think Jembas raw attributes give him more chance than most. Hes had good games this new year too, but for me engine isn't enough.
Still I would put him in the team for his sheer pace and wholehearted commitment. Last season he killed himself for three points at home to Ipswich. I love him for that. But only in Britain where church's pointless closing down inspires a mighty roar and post match praise from the manager, could we hail Karacan as super Jem.
