One who's really annoyed me recently is Dwight Yorke. Sky have got him on for the last couple of Man Utd games and for every contentious decision he's backed them to the hilt, despite the anchor and the other pundit both strongly disagreeing with him.

With the ol' mispronunciations, my favourite was the various interpretations of Kuyt when he first arrived at Liverpool. Think we had Kowt, Kite and Kweetch :? . And I can't remember which ITV one is is that insists on "Nicola Anelka" The best one around at the moment is Palace midfielder Dikcagoi, which is apparently announced something like Pikachu

Martin Tyler is really beginning to wind me up.

Every match is preceded with "......... and it's live" .

Martin, my old mate, every sodding game in Sky is live. It's old news - change your catchphrase

David Pleat or Graham Taylor I think. Those guys have the most identical voices, I can never tell them apart.
I can't stand pundits who like to feel all continental and try to attempt a shitty accent with foreign players, especially the one who always rolls the r's on Drogba.

I hate Peter Dreary's commentary, also.

I enjoy listening to Savage on the radio, though. Better pundit than he was a footballer.

It depends where you draw the line though. I've seen fans get annoyed by commentators who pronounce Rosicky as "Rositsky" rather than "Rosicky", even though that's how his name is pronounced.

Without wishing to incur the wrath of the anti-pronunciation brigade, I think it's gotta be "Sh-chesney".

TV Pundits are by and large awful, but they're talking to the uninitiated masses out there I suppose, rather than to people who probably spend a bit too much time worrying about these things. Lawro can f*ck off though, the sarcastic c*nt.

It's also quite astounding how much the different broadcasters seem to vary with their live TV commentaries.

BBC = dour and boring, very much just saying who's on the ball
ITV = full of cliché and hyperbole
Sky = OTT eagerness

normally I detest ITV's coverage but I was watching the Man City-Liverpool game on the Beeb and was so unbelievably bored by their "commentary" (Steve Wilson maybe? and Lawro for sure) that I was praying Tyldesley would tw@ them from behind and inject some excited catchphrases

I accidentally heard Tyldesley on the radio a few months ago (he was, incidentally, on Keys and Gray) and he said that Reading are the only team he goes to watch these days on account of his son being a fan.

Very surprised by Gary Neville. His pre match and post match analyisis is very interesting not a hint of Man Utd bias. Unlike the Beeb scousers. Still a boring little runt but he does know his stuff. Ray Wilkins really annoys me with that false posh accent he puts on.
"He really is talented the young man, I do hope we see more of that from him in the future, and I must say he has a jolly good attitude towards the game which I find somewhat refreshing" oxf*rd off Ray your just a cockney barrow trying to make out your something that your not.

With players names my favourite was when Alf Inga Harland became Alfie Horland

Oh and Paul Sholes was a very young young Paul Scholes

Dixon and Neville are the best of the current crop - probably reflects the status of the full-back as the unsung hero of any side

One of Frank Skinner's things to put in Room 101 in the advert for the new series is "Ray Wilkins co-commentary".

It's Shez-knee, and any commentator who tries something fancier should be shot. There is nothing better than hearing an English mangling of a foreign player or team name.

Ian Royal I was amazed the other day to hear Claridge say something vaguely sensible on the FLS.

Me too!

What he said about the red cards in the Reading game was quite subtle and incisive, whereas Lineker on MotD was just trying to be amusingly ignorant over the Premiership red-card controversy - twat.
