Players not celebrating against former clubs

by TBM » 31 Jan 2012 22:58

Why?

Pisses me off.......players are just scared about upsetting the fans.

Lita didn't hold back when he scored against us and i admired him for it

I do think there are the odd occasions that you can tell the player genuinely gave a phuck about their former club and do it out of respect, which I think is good. There are plenty of times where they are just being gh3ylords and wanting to look like heroes though

I can understand if the player was someone like Henry at Arsenal etc.......but when players like Sinclair who played a grand total of 5 games for Chelsea and spent most of his time there out on loan somewhere, its a tad embarrassing!

Perhaps that suggests Lita didn’t share an affinity with Reading that say Robbie Keane does with Wolves. I’m sure you’d have been more surprised if Phil Parkinson had left us for Plymouth in the twilight of his career, and celebrated scoring a winner for them at the Madejski with a double-Shearer past the East Stand.

Its amazing how players can manage to show such restraint after all when they get penalised for over-celebrating they claim its just a natural reaction and something they can't control.

What a load of hypocritical nonsense. Players don't want to celebrate scoring against their former employers because they think it will look bad? oxf*rd that! How does it look to your CURRENT employers? Scoring goals is what football is about. Enjoy the moment.

This is right up there with badge kissing.

Well it very rare to get loyal players in the game these days.......but i was mainly posting after seeing Sinclair hold his hands up saying "i dont want to celebrate scoring a superb goal against Chelsea"

Its like when Sturridge didn't celebrate against Bolton earlier in the season cos he was on loan there for a few games :?

I assumed you were on about Scott Sinclair. Fair play to him. Showed alot of respect for the club that gave him his start in football.

Should be a return to the old days! Fans used boo an old player (unless he's was an ex favourite), old player scores against his old club then cups ears in front of opposing supporters when celebrating a goal.... Cureton is one example. Others players celebrating running along the touchline arms aloft.

Football has gone soft.

Ok he doesn't score many but Peter Crouch wouldn't be able to celebrate any of his goals before too long if he followed the current example of players not celebrating against former clubs!

Very good read that. Worth clicking on.

I think he is right about what he says and also to pick out the Dennis Law situation as an example as that would be completely understandable.

It is one of the things really grinding my gears at the moment. Utterly pathetic.

The way Adebayor celebrated yesterday is how they should do it if players "regret" banging one in against a former club.

Simply score, run to the supporters and then let the other players on your team mob you and do the celebrating.....

A good read, however, when that ball crosses the line I really couldn't careless if he celebrates or not.
