Oxlade-Chamberlain

by TBM » 01 Feb 2012 20:33

The lad looks like he's found his feet and it wouldn't surprise me if he makes the Euro's squad

Causing Bolton all sorts of trouble at the moment. Looks twice the player Walcott is

Everytime I've seen him he's been quality, glad he's finally getting into the Arsenal squad more often. Southampton's academy are really churning them out.

He's quite a strong lad too - not easily pushed off the ball

Think I read somewhere that Wenger doesnt want him near the England camp yet as there are too many bad influences and the style and quality of players and training isn't what he would want him to be learning from. Think he was focusing on the fact the England players aren't technical enough...poor first touches, dribbling, sharpness are all dire compared to the top nations.

Wenger should worry about the style and quality of his own players before he starts moaning about the England set up.

True but he has a point, the technical ability of the England setup compared to the serious football nations is worryingly dire, we need our players to go abroad and learn with better players not stay here and learn to play powerhouse direct football with god awful passing and ball retention.

If that's true, why the hell is he letting him train with Theo Walcott!

As for Oxlade-Chamberlain getting in the Euro's squad, I think it's probably going to come a bit too soon for him to justify his inclusion. It didn't do Walcott a lot of good to be thrown into the deep end by Sven and I'm not sure it would be the right time for Oxlade-Chamberlain.

I really like the look of him, and I'm sure he'll play a big part for England in the future, but if everyone else is fit I still think there's probably players to get in ahead of him (depending on form over the next 3 or 4 months of course).

The Engalnd set up isn't going to uncoach the technical ability he has already but i suspect Wenger will be more worried that the influence of the senior England players attitude and mentality might turn his head. The moment Nicky Shorey joined the England camp and realised how much money utterly average players could earn he was looking for the Reading Exit door.

Well if he had a squad that were as technically brilliant as Arsenal used to be he wouldn't have to worry about International duty "ruining" a player.. It's not 2004 anymore Arsene, move on.

Thought he was Finnish? A quick Wiki shows that he has played for both, but more recently has appeared for Finland U-21s.

The weird thing about him is that apparently he played most of his youth and reserves career playing in central midfield but played on the wing for the first team because there was less responsibility for a young player. Interesting to see if he ends up back there.
