What makes it sicker is they were purposely murdering each other with complete intent. its not just an out of hand scrap which people died from missile launching or a big crush or fire, they were purposely aiming for each others vital organs with knives and sharp objects and hacking each other to death. Pure and utter murder. I am hearing it was like a tribal war scene it was so so brutal. Egypt is an absolute mess of a country, no one to crack down on these idiot scumbags either.

Also strong rumours that the police allowed one set of fans to be attacked purely because they were supporters of the other political party. Absolutely sickening if true and deserved deaths for the police( only if this is backed up). You're supposed to be protecting everyone yet they deliberately let one group of fans attempt to murder another just because of a political allegiance?

Going by previous African photos, you should be OK as long as you've got that tribal shield with you...

A large number were killed through suffoc8ion in a crowd of people trying to escape.

It's this, but not really a political party thing, the ultras of Zamalek were key in organising anti Mubarak protests and have been organising anti military rule protests, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_yz8rJn4rM) so the police hate them, and stood by whilst they were attacked, in a derby they normally manage to police easily. You can clearly see the pitch invasion being let through two thick lines of riot police. Wouldn't surprised if a load of Mubarak loyalists were mixed in with the attacking crowd. This sort of shit happens to Ultra Sankt Pauli all the time because the Hamburg police hate them, albeit thankfully on a much smaller scale.

Pretty good summary of the situation in 2011 here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/video/2 ... tion-video
