I found it a bit odd that the Football League show had more air play for the Ipswich game, which was abandoned and therefore counts for nothing, than for ours and some of the others.

Meh. Rather that than spend time continually defending a racist.

Thankfully I'm capable of slightly more complex thought than you.

Archie's penalty Suarez apologises.

I have spoken at length with the Manager since the game at Old Trafford and I realise I got things wrong.

I've not only let him down, but also the Club and what it stands for and I'm sorry. I made a mistake and I regret what happened.

I should have shaken Patrice Evra's hand before the game and I want to apologise for my actions.

I would like to put this whole issue behind me and concentrate on playing football.

Well done. I guess we're just waiting for Rio's apology now?

Am I the only one (probably) that thinks Rio was never going to shake Suarez' hand? His handshake opportunity came so quickly after handshake-g8 that the average person would have had little time to weigh up the situation let alone someone with limited IQ. By the time Evra grabbed Suarez' arm in protest he was already in front of Rio and Rio's hand was not extended

I would like to point out that thus whole thing is embarrassingly childish and I can't believe I am even getting involved in such a pathetic matter

So why did

a) Evra then grab his arm? If Evra was snubbing him then surely he wouldn't have grabbed his arm to shake it - which Saurez then shook off, and not go back for a handshake
b) Suarez apologise....if Evra was wrong, why feel the need to say sorry for not shaking his hand?

I know you're only on the fish but

Wahey! TMD 1-0 Frimmers.

LOL @ everyone involved in Handshakeg8, from Suarez - the Uruguayan Esther Rantzen - to Evra and his embarassing spaz out at the end to the slow-mos of Rio's gormless face during the Handshake. Laughable. Get rid of the pre-match handshake anyway, contrived and pointless nonsense given the contempt most of these spoileed millionaires have for each other.

This pretty much sums up my whole feelings on the staged handshake malarky. It's just a set piece bit of presentation for the TV cameras that brings nothing to the game. I'd never have wanted to shake the hands of everyone I was about to play against, it's just daft.

First up though, Suarez is obviously a bit of a volatile idiot who trouble seems to follow everywhere he goes. At the same time I think there's more to the initial Evra incident than meets the eye as Liverpool, Dalglish and Suarez are so adament that he'd been wronged that I think thy must have some point. Plus the fact that Evra is a c**t of the highest order.

I think Soggy has a bit of a point though. Rio obviously had it in his head that he wasn't going to shake Suarez hand if the Evra handsake didn't go smoothly. Fair enough in many ways, it's just a response to his mate getting snubbed so I don't really have a problem with it. I also think that Evra was looking to make the most of the handshake and contrived to make it as bad looking as possible and perhaps prompted the non-shake with his body language (we're told that Suarez had agreed to shake his hand previously but perhaps pulled out at the last minute because Evra looked like he was going to show him up by pulling out himself).

After that Evra's initial attempt at nailing Suarez (but hilariously taking Rio out instead) help really put things on edge. That's not to belittle Suarez part in all this. His kicking the ball away at half time was pathetic too but not as bad as Evra's celebrations at full time. Fair play to for Fergie to come out and ticking off Evra at the same time. I don't think he went so far as saying his actions could've caused a riot though.

All in all a bit of a sad course of events for Liverpool who've come out of the whole thing quite badly. It's also bit of a bad run for football as well as this has only give the TV fans and non-fans more exposure to the misbehaviour within the game.

I haven't watched the whole game yet, but it does seem that Scholes was outstanding and Gerrard a bit poor. Fair play to Scholes, after a poor reintroduction he seems to be getting a bit of magic back which is great for true football fans because, like Gerrard, he's a joy to watch.

a) Evra wanted to make the most of a chance to further demonise Suarez. I don't think he came out of it 'as the bigger man' as Fletcher has suggested. He's come out of it, in my eyes, as a bit of a moany prick. At least Terry just got on with it when Bridge refused to shake his hand. I really don't think Evra helped the situation at all, and as I said above, I think he was probably looking to milk it for all it's worth

b) Liverpool have made him apologise because they've handled the whole thing badly enough already. He apparently agreed to shake Evra's hand earlier in the week and so should've done so, he didn't and so they're making him take the hit for the good of the club. I'm sure he doesn't really think he's done any wrong though

I don't for one minute think the official apology from KKKenny and Suarez is genuine though. I believe (for the good of the club) they were told to make statements (by the owners) because all this has blackened the name of Liverpool FC and will affect future sponsorship and income into the club.
