cmonurz I expect this is just the next play in Tevez's game to utterly fcuk Man City over. I dare say that if Tevez is fully fit, training hard and declaring himself ready to play, City would be in breach of his contract if they simply refused to consider him for the matchday squad.

How many contracts have it stated that a player must be considered for selection if the player is fit?

There is some restraint of trade or FIFA condition that they have to be considered for selection. It's daft but it's why the simple 'he'll never play for the club again' phrase from Mancini has potential to cost City.

Basically it's not a explicit term of his contract as such but a condition of employment under some outside regulation.

I suspect it will mirror the Winston Bogarde affair. He'll return to City to keep getting paid, which City will then have to do, and Mancini will just let him train with the youth team or similar. Can't seem him being allowed anywhere near the first team, as it will piss off too many other players. Can't see any club with an ounce of sense wanting to sign him either, so he will probably just run down his contract, and then may get a 'pay as you play' deal elsewhere
