Have lost the case against the pub landlady using a Greek decoder for football...will this mean more pubs being able to show games, or will sky find another way to protect their revenue?

I swear this has been reported about five times over the last three years, have there been several cases or just lots of appeals?

This is an important caveat though:

But it did offer some comfort for the Premier League, which receives vast sums through its exclusive broadcasting deals with Sky and ESPN.

The European court said that while live matches were not protected by copyright, any surrounding media, such as any opening video sequence, the Premier League anthem, pre-recorded films showing highlights of recent Premier League matches and various graphics, were "works" protected by copyright.

To use any of these extra parts associated for a broadcast, a pub would need the permission of the Premier League.

Will be interesting to see how pubs get around this, as I'm sure Sky will be sending their spies out.

Why is it being reported again?

Got bounced back to High Court after European Court to confirm if the high court agreed.

Today, the High Court agreed. Which means she has won her case.

I'm told that the Premier League logo is a copyrighted image. Every single shirt has it on. Therefore I doubt this actually makes any difference. But she should get her money back. There is no way that even with this ruling, will there be any significant change to the broadcast rights issue in the short term.

Why is it being reported again?

Because it was referred back to our High Court by the ECJ.
