Cobi
TBM I think people in or around their 30's have two teams (as such) is mainly due to when we were a kid

Nothing to do with being in your 30's, it's most kids in general. They tend to go with who their friends support. When I was at School it was Man Utd, Liverpool or Arsenal. Nowadays it's Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City.

As you grow up and realise your town has a football club and you start going, you then fall in love with them and they become 'your' club, but you might still follow the club you supported as a kid.

I dont entirely agree as i see far more kids these days wearing Reading shirts than i did back in the 80's......as said, back then unless you were taken to Elm Park to watch Reading then you would normally support the teams you saw on TV/in your sticker book etc

I could give you a list as long as Maguires inside leg, of people that follow Reading now, but walk about in premier league shirts.

Most over 30's Reading fans have a premiership side (unless they've been relegated) and support Reading now, mostly since '98, they've probably been to Elm park on occasions, but in the main, most are two teamers.

For the most maligned record, QPR, a brief affinity with Hampton when Hodgey was there, and of course Celtic for religious purposes.

I think most will be a die hard to their main club, but nothing wrong with a spot of non league football now and again, but i just LOL at the two teamer brigade

Oh yeah - suppose I do support Reading. Been to about 2 games at the Mad Stad in the last 4 nearly 5 seasons maybe and both those I got free tickets. The last game I went to was when you got beaten 1-0 at home by Southampton, the season they got relegated to League 1.

The last time we lost 1-0 at home to Southampton, in the league, was in 1955 :?:

But you said you were at Millwall on Saturday.

That wasn't an attempt at being amusing was it?

Well you lost to Saints at the Mad Stad the year they got relegated. They totally outplayed Reading. Also went to the QPR game the same season and that was deffo 0-0. So either one of those was the last time I went to the Mad Stad.

There's a shock.

1-2 IIRC - Kebe scored with a header for Reading, possibly BWP with one for Saints. And they did outplay Reading that day.

Thinking about it - wasn't the Chelsea friendly after those aforementioned games? I went to that. Scott Davies scored that decent free kick.

Never was really into English football until the last 5 seasons or so. The reason being is it was almost non-existent on the tellie here...almost impossible for me to follow properly. The New York Yankees cable tv channel (MSG) carried Manchester Utd games back in the 1980's and I kinda followed them for a while seeing there is a town in CT called Manchester (actually there are a whole bunch of towns in CT which share names with English cities). Didn't really get into the Manchester United tho and never seriously supported them but did watch the games being a lover of top flight football. The MLS wasn't worth my time. But I love football, having played it as a lad. A couple years back I was looking for an English team to support and an on-line mate is a Reading FC supporter. Once I heard about the club's history and where they call home (and Reading is very much like Hartford as a city) I found my team...forevermore.
