Got to say, Noel Hunt dived to get that penalty on Saturday against West Ham.

Dont think he dived, but he certainly played for it......either way it didn't matter as Kebe smashed in a cracking shot - either way, 3-1

Carroll stormed off the pitch red-faced and close to tears, growling: “F****** joke this, f****** shit, f*** off,” towards the dug out.

He is suspended for the next three games including the FA Cup semi final with Everton.

Reading have Hunt and Jobi as resident divers but neither of those are in the same class as Sturridge,Lampard,Drogba and Cashley.
Ironically ,with the criticism of foreigners bringing diving to our game, the two Spaniards are probably the most honest and genuine in the Chelsea side.

No need for a new law to deal with this. It already exists.

Unsporting behaviour (formerly ungentlemanly conduct)

Referees just need to start enforcing it.

Reina in particular though isn’t prone to going mental – really out of character, shows the pressure Liverpool are under I guess.

Well, apart from that other time he got sent off for haring out his area towards the corner flag and lunging 2 footed from behind at Eidur Gudjohnsen in another game that Liverpool were being shown up in.

The sending off yesterday was soft, but he gave Perch the perfect opportunity to get him sent off

5 years ago, in a genuine although reckless attempt to play the ball, which he did. Yes, my mistake, that's indicative of a character trait.

I thought it was Robben who got Reina sent off anyway, after Pepe itched his chin for him.

I've just always had the impression that Reina can be a bit flakey.

3 veesinarow Never accept it.

After the Muamba incident, I would have hoped players in general, and Perch on this particular occasion, might just have proved themselves to be be more conscientious in their reactions to situations such as these and perhaps realise that feigning injury and grossly over-reacting to the slightest contact is diabolical.

I heard it called "professionalism" on the part of Perch yesterday, in the same vein that a player should go down under a feather touch in the area to get a penalty. He felt contact with Reina's head and was "professional" enough to make sure he went down. Don't get me wrong, Reina was stupid and had to go, but I felt sick watching Perch go down like that. How much more of a man would he be if he just stood his ground, made his protest at the action and watched him walk anyway?

Professionalism is nothing more than a sick euphemism for "cheating".

I agree. And I think feigning injury should be punished as bringing the game into disrepute with a ban imposed after the match. But I'd reckon there's a pretty good chance Reina would have got off with a yellow if Perch hadn't gone down. That's part of the problem, everyone deplores this diving and feigning injury, but how often do you a see a ref give a penalty or a freekick in an important position if the player doesn't hit the dirt, no matter how much they are impeded?

Quite...dissent is actually a yellow card offence but do players really get booked for it?

It needs to be punished all the time then that might stop as in rugby.

I am sure if rugby players didn't get the ball moved 10 yards forward for a penalty they'd be abusive TBH but they know its a major punishment.

As for diving...I remember Arsenal had their Croatian striker banned for a dive against Celtic in a Champions league game but got it over-turned.

Renia was silly but Pearch could have got a 2nd yellow for over-reacting maybe afterwards once the video was looked at?

As for Carroll..well I should think any support he had from the Liverpool fans has totally gone after that incident!

Against a former team-mate as well which sums up the lack of respect between players I feel.

No. Paul Scholes was shown clearly on TV last night shouting angrily 'I got the f**king ball you f**cking w*nker' in Howard Webb's face yet Webb just waved him away.

I'd give him a 7 for that. Superb dive and good length.

To be fair to Carroll I'm not sure it was a deliberate dive at all. He really is so shit i can believe that he simply can't put one foot in front of the other and try to control the ball at the same time without falling over.
