Some people miss the bigger picture

Leeds are a serious threat to our chances of promotion this season.
They have a chance to force their way into the playoffs, where we could even wind up facing them.
If they are to achieve that, then they are going to have to pick up points at places like the Madejski.
It is undeniable that the whole south stand belting out "marching on together" will make for a cracking atmosphere, and in all truth, even if we only gave Leeds half the stand, they will still outsing us.
I think that by giving them twice that amount, it will lift the Leeds players more than our own.

With the upcoming fixtures, it is nip and tuck as to whether Reading can gain automatic promotion, and in such circumstances, any advantage that can be garnered, however small, should be maximised.
Some will remember Wolves away in the playoffs, where our support was split in different stands, and then fed utter bullshit from Wolves as to why.

So, by giving Leeds the whole end makes a sell out more likely? Big deal.
I look at it this way: An extra few grand on ticket sales in one Championship fixture Vs. Doing anything which could harm the chances of automatic promotion, and the, what, £40M windfall it brings.

We didn't have to give Leeds the whole end, and IMHO, we shouldn't have done.

Absolutely nailed it mate

The game will be won and lost by 22 players on the pitch, not by how many away fans will be in attendance.

The more allocation you give to away fans the less home advantage you have and you can't deny that playing at home is an advantage. I don't think anybody is saying that giving Leeds a larger allocation is going to make a huge difference but at this stage of the season, when things are so tight, you need every small advantage you can get. I feel we've simply cashed in here for the sake of a few extra quid.

I agree with the Cap and under the tin but I can't help feeling the club, and possibly the police, may have thought our half of the south stand would sell slowly ( I don't think it would have) and Leeds fans would then be scrambling to get tickets in the home ends and all the hassle that would bring them to control.

Well they have a massive away support so why not let them have the south stand. It could have possibly sold out half for the home support, but would the club rather have irate away support or a half full home support in the south.

It should gee up the home support to actually raise their game in the stands.

Should never have given them the whole end. Against Blackpool Reading had half the south stand, so why did the club thought that against Leeds on a Bank Holiday there would be fewer home fans?

Saying all that though people have had plenty of time to get their tickets

It's still chuntering on. Anyone would think he was more concerned about who supports Reading than actually supporting his other team.

Leeds are without doubt the biggest club outside of the Premiership, and bigger than 2/3 of the clubs currently in it.
They are monster. There will be Leeds fans amongst the home support anyway.
The difference is that this will be passive, rather than active support. I.E. Not belting out MOT.

Leeds had only sold by COP Monday. I doubt there will be many, if any, in the home ends.

I wasn't on about those travelling from Yorkshire.
They are such a big club because their fan base (like Liverpool, for instance) includes those who have never set foot in that county. Because they're either exiled yorkies, or just fans who decided to follow Leeds, the chances are that they are well down the pecking order, (royalty points-wise) in terms of getting tickets to away games.
This leaves them with little choice but to have to get tickets wherever they can.
Be assured, there will be tourists around the stadium.

Nothing game for them. Wasn't a loyalty game which is rare for Leeds away fans. Bet RFC are gutted. Could of easily sold out half the South with home supporters.

Depends if Leeds had to pay for all the tickets in advance as part of the agreement to get the larger allocation.

Wouldn't have mattered whether half the South stand had been given to home or away fans. Leeds fan would've filled the majority of those seats either way!

I'd be amazed if Leeds issued Royalty points.
