Shirt Sponsors

by Stuka » 04 May 2012 08:41

I've never been a great fan of shirt sponsors in general, although of course they are now ubiquitous part of the teams to the extent I rarely even notice them now. Over the years there's been some bizarre or unordinary ones. I remember when we played Dagenham & Redbridge in the League Cup their sponsor was a local funeral director. Then having seen the thread on next season’s shirts we see Falkirk have a demolition company as theirs. For what it’s worth I quite like Reading having Waitrose, as much as it’s possible to care that much about it anyway. Used to also like it when West Ham had Dr. Martens also.

Who else remembers these monstrosities? I'm still not sure which is worse...

Compared with this - certainly one of the best sponsors to have purely for the slogan:

On phone so can't post link but Pompey's beanie baby phase was quite LOLworthy.

haha yeah!

Also when Sheffield Wednesday had Chupa Chups as their sponsor. I'd far sooner have betting companies, breweries, and that sort of thing than these infantile brands across our player's chests.

I'm not sure why but I always liked Everton's early 80s effort.

I still have no idea who Hafnia were.
