England squad...

by Super_horns » 15 May 2012 21:38

Only official news seems to be Rio out and Walker injured/Richards not selected.

Sounds like Zamora is going and Crouch isn't

Sauces?

All I can find is Teddy Sheringham saying he should go.

Just posted on the euro thread as this was made, so I'll put it here too for completeness. Fair to say I'm not overly enthusiastic now that these rumours are out. So much potential, unlikely to use it.

Euro 2012 campaign appears to be over already if these rumours of the squad are anything to go by.

Racist, hot head JT appears to be in, Joey Barton would be less disruptive.

Right back arguably our strongest position now, yet we're lumbered with Glen Johnson again.

Parker out through injury and I have little doubt both Gerrard and Lampard will make the squad when it is arguable either are good enough.

On positive notes, I think Andy Carroll deserves a spot. It's all about form, history is irrelevant. He's peaking at the right time and we need someone with a big pair of cajones to put themselves around (which he does at the moment).

Get to quarter final and out. Same old players, same old story. (I predict)

I like Zamora, was thinking during the City-QPR match that I'd probably take him if I was Roy.

Walker's injured so not much choice there. Interesting that Richards isn't in if Walker's in though...presumably we're taking Jones as back-up RB then.

Delighted if Crouch is actually left out.

I don't rate him. I don't think he makes enough of an impact in build up play, he's slow, and for his size he doesn't win enough in the air.

If it was a choice between Carroll or Crouch for the tall man spot; then I'd go with Carroll every time.

On the basis of Zamora going, I expect Downing, Danny Murphy and Paul Konchesky to make the squad.

What's Downing got to do with anything? :|

With the striking options I'm quite happy to see Zamora go. Good touch and hopefully bring our wingers into play.

^This. Best English link-up striker around. Admittedly that says more about the standard of our strikers atm, but still.

True what Fergie says - Rio couldn't handle a game every 3 or so days, his back problem will prevent him
