Z175 I think the problem with Rhodes is the huge fee he will command. Thus making it a big risk.
Le Fondre was easy, in that you can make the arguments about stepping up for a few 100k, and while that was also up two divisions, I think the Championship is closer to League Two than the Premier League is to League One.
We know League One very well - Martin Butler and Jamie Cureton didn't quite get as many as Rhodes has, but they weren't far off. Would anyone have thought they'd be Premier League players the following season? Frankly Cureton might have been had he got a chance like Danny Graham did. But you just don't know - and you can't pay £5m for that.
Unless you have been a Chief Scout for a decade and watched more football matches than anyone else put together...
But from my armchair, for a similar price, I'd go with the guy at his peak and with a stellar record, who you absolutely know will give everything not to let you down.
My take from the times I have seen him on TV is that he will make the step up. He is a big lad, has a lot of skill and looks like he can improve. Personally I think this could be 5M well spent if we have that much available.
