ZacNaloen Welbeck injured, johnson injured, parker carrying a knock

ffs

Johnson is the only minor concern for the tournament, considering we’ve just finished a football season, that’s not a bad injury list.

Who cares about Johnson anyway. Richards would be a more than adequate replacement.

Parker is my main concern. Without him, we don't have any midfielder who gives a sh/t about shape and cover.

Read somewhere the other day (and now can't find where) that Richards apparantly told Hodgson he didn't want to be on the stand by list.

Isn't Wellbeck one of the four strikers? One of whom is already out of the first 2 games?

I don't think I've ever seen Jack Butland play tbh so well done on getting in the Euro squad despite that.

Guess that means he can't play for Team GB in the Olympics now. Oh well.

Welbeck is not a doubt for the tournament.

Maybe not but my problem with only taking 4 strikers when one of them is already banned for the first 2 games is that even the slightest knock in training could leave you with 2 to choose from and then England could be out before Rooney even gets to do his laces up

We've not really only got four strikers though coz there are midfielders who can play and all-out attacking role eg. Walcott, Young, or Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Still would've taken Sturridge if it was up to me though, think that's a mistake.

Agreed Mags, I'm more of a horses for courses man than make do and mend by playing players out of position.

Interesting choice of Buckland as the replacement keeper. There are a few decent young keepers around that have come through the u21's and might've been considered (such as McCarthy), but this lad must have something about him for them to think he's worth taking along above more experienced options.

I still think Green ahead of Carson is an odd choice though. He's decent, but I'd say Carson is the more reliable, but that's more from seeing Green than watching much of Carson since his move abroad.

Taking a fifth striker such as Sturridge or Crouch >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> playing Walcott there.

Appreciate Sturridge has also played out-wide, but out of him, Walcott, Young or Oxlade-Chamberlain, he looks by far the most natural in that position. What are the chances of Walcott's one good game in eight falling when he's our back-up striker?

I've got little confidence in Green tbh - he does nothing to inspire me whatsoever. Leigertwood's goal at Upton Park sums up my mental image of him.

Not that interesting when he was on the standby list.

Sad state of affairs when you consider Carson vs. Croatia and Green still comes out as the more unreliable.

Bit harsh. That was what, 5 years ago and on his debut for the national team? Bad management throwing him in like that for a game of that magnitude, and something I think stiched him up a bit (there had been plenty of opportunities to bed him in before that).

More importantly, he's improved a fair bit since those days of not playing week-in week-out and had a good season or two for West Brom before moving to Turkey.

He played under Hodgson at West Brom though, so he'll know him well enough from then.

True. I didn't bother to think about it at the time though so bear with me...

Yeah but thought maybe Woy, knowing him, could have persuaded him.

Why isn't Hart starting tonight btw?

Victor Meldrew
No Fixed Abode Kelly might be a decent prospect, but I'd rather have players in the squad with CL experience. Most of these Liverpool players don't have that. And those that do haven't played in it for so long, they're not up to it now.

Obsessed.

Do you have any idea how stupid you sound when you claim that other people are obsessed?
