Hope they sign Hulk. Him vs. Alex Pearce will be a funny one to watch.

30 million on Hazerd 10 million on some other nobody Hulk coming for 25 million. 65 million not including wages or agents fees.
So much for financial fair play. Good to see Roman has faith in the Chelsea youth system!

TBM
cmonurz We'll see, I tend to side with others on here that Premier League midfields will be less to his liking.

My point above anyway was more that Kes' post about the wage bill is irrelevant unless Chelsea don't plan to replace the two forwards and defender they have got rid of.

He'll play further forward than midfield.....he'll be part of a front 3

I imagine that Abromovich will tell his manager to play a 4-2-3-1 formation again this season, with Mata and Hazard as two of the three, with Torres the main man upfront.

I don't think it really matters which position he plays in, he'll still find the Premier League a totally different pace and intensity than the French football he's used to. How quickly he adapts to that remains to be seen, but I'd hazard a guess that it'll take him some time and he won't hit the ground running (although, like Mata, he might have a couple of good performances in the August sun to get Sky and the like creaming themselves over him to start with).

cmonurz Chelsea clearly think a lot of this unproven 21 year old if he is replacing players who managed 131 games between them last season.

French player of the year 2 years running, young player of the year 2 years running previous to that, team of the year 3 years running, player of the month 3 times, Bravo award winner.

All that and he is only 21........there is obviously something very special about him

...in the French league

Tabloid headline writers must be loving this signing, does half their job for them.

Agree with the above formation, if Hulk comes in then I see Abramivich playing Mata, Hazard & Hulk as a 3 behind Torres. Would be some attacking line up if all were on form I guess

Nasri didn't suffer coming over here, neither did Drogba, or Ben Arfa, or Cabaye

I'd say Drogba took a while to adjust, if not just to get used to having defenders stand up to him and to cut out the diving which he did after the first season or two (and then went back to it more recently of course). Having just checked, he only scored 10 league goals in his first season, although he did have worst returns mroe recently which surprised me quite a bit.

Don't really remember much about Nasri's early days with Arsenal to be fair, but there are plenty of players who've struggled to adapt, and more so than jsut moving from club to club in the same league. It's not all players of course, but some certainly find the change tough initially.

Sorry forgot about that, Roman has put 700 million in to Chelsea's acadamy so that's a fair pay back.

You don't think it's a quicker and more physical league than France?

The French league is full of actors/divers....tbh i think that is the thing he'll have to get used to more - rather than throwing himself down with the slightest touch, he'll have to learn to stay on his feet more and skip past the 14 stone centre half who goes crashing in at 20mph
