No Fixed Abode Frank Lampard has pulled up in training with a thigh strain, but don't worry everyone, Jordan Henderson is on stand by.

Why doesn't he call Paul Scholes up instead.......i'd much rather him than some flop from Liverpool :|

Agreed, or Carrick. Someone with regular Champions League experience.

Cos he wasn't being played in the position that he was good at......

tbh i thought it would be Victor that bit first, with the Liverpool dig, not you.

It wasn't a bite. Nothing to do with your mentioning Liverpool. Fwiw I’d agree with Kes that Carrick would be a better replacement.

I've posted before about Scholes, I’ve never understood a decision to ‘retire from international football’. It's just a hissy fit. In fact isn't Carrick in the same boat?

I think Scholes got sick of being criticised in the media for 'drying up' or 'losing form' when he was being asked to play as a winger so Sven could take three dicks up his ass and play Lamps, Gerrard and Scholes, who all play the same 1 position, at the same time.

Times haven't changed, just the f/cking names.

Yep and doing tackles with his studs up.

Still, good to see Gerrard get the lowest score of 5 in the ratings from the Norway game.

Maybe Gerrard will fake an injury like Lampard to avoid the embarassment of being dumped.

Ok, couldn’t remember if it was that or if he was a Micah ‘don’t want to be on standby’ Richards. I’ve little respect for players who would turn down the chance to represent their country.

I expect they have little respect for idiot managers picking players by politics rather than form and play everyone out of position just to please the sponsors and fit the big names in.

Depends on your approach to your career I guess. Phil Jagielka seems to have coped alright with not being selected and then being called up in place of a midfielder. I’m sure he won’t mind playing at Euro 2012 be it in central defence or in a Parker type role should it be required, in fact I’m sure he’d happily don the keeper’s gloves if needed.

Not going to sympathise with the likes of Scholes, Carrick and Carragher because they are a bit sensitive.

Interestingly though Gerrard has never bitched and moaned about being played out of position or being criticised for playing poorly for England.

I actually think Scholes decision to quit was as much about getting out of the limelight and spending more time with his young family than not playing in his best position.

An interesting take on the lack of quality available to England, and the comparative wealth of young talent for Belgium, ahead of the game on Saturday.

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/international/england-must-beware-brilliant-belgium-7804941.html

It's clear to see they've got some pretty decent players, but I don't agree with the tone of the article that we're miles behind them.

If Wilshire or Oxlade-Chamberlain were to be available then I'm sure the big guns would all be fighting for their signature in the same way as they have been with Hazard, especially after a couple of years tearing up the French league. Comparing Hazard to Welbeck is a little bit pointless IMO.
