Uke Ferdinand's complaining about not being picked shows precisely why he wasn't picked

no it doesn't. Look at who's been picked, ridiculous.

Neither Richards or Ferdinand were on standby, Kelly was, end of argument.

If Rio had an issue why didn't he air it when Hodgson originally explained he was excluded for football reasons?

Precisely, why did he not ask at the time. It has been said repeatedly that Hodgson explained why to Ferdinand. Perhaps it didn't sink in...

Ferdinand is trying to be the tail trying to wag the dog, same as Terry in South Africa

Hodgson needs to kill player power and he is sending out the message that no one selects themselves.

STFU Ferdinand

Hoop Blah As someone said above, disappointingly, Richards asked not to be on standby so presumably that has ruled him out of being called up post squad.

Agreed. He is currently showing that he thinks he is bigger than the england squad and is happy to cause problems for the manager and create disharmony in the squad. More than anything his current rants justify his non inclusion

Gotta laugh at most of the journalists in this though.

Pre squad selection 'He has to go with youth and mix up the squad'.
Squad announcement 'Why has he gone with so many established failures? Hodgson is a shambles!'
Player gets injured, Hodgson picks 22 yr old instead of injury prone 33 yr old 'Why hasn't he gone with the established name? Hodgson is a shambles!'

I still don't like the fact that we've got Rob Green in the squad.

I've looked at some stats, namely the goals he's conceded against Reading:

31st March 2012 for West Ham = let in 4.
17th Dec 2011 for West Ham = let in 3.
26th December 2007 for West Ham = let in 1.
23rd Sept 2007 for West Ham = let in 0.
1st Jan 2007 for West Ham = let in 6.
31st Jan 2006 for Norwich = let in 4.
24th Sept 2005 for Norwich = let in 1.
12th April 2004 for Norwich = let in 0.
30th Sept 2003 for Norwich = let in 1.
5th March 2003 for Norwich = let in 1.
18th Sept 2002 for Norwich = let in 0.

Total = 21 goals conceded in 11 games v Reading.

Not impressive stats. So why is he in the squad, remind me again?

For starters I don't think England will be playing Reading at the Euros so that probably didn't enter Hodgsons mind.

Also, with Robinson and Foster ruling themselves out the experienced alternative was pretty much confined to Carson.

Because none (that's zero) Reading players will be lined up to face him (if he plays at all)

Rooney's record against Reading is one goal in five games. Perhaps he should have been left behind too, Spacey?

In case Joe Hart gets injured - better to have someone who plays in goal, than an outfield player

Yeah, let's debate about the second choice keeper. Get comfy, I'll get the popcorn. F/ck man, I'm hard just thinking about how interesting you are, and how exciting this conversation will be.

Media continuing to brief against Hodgson. This time the BBC decide that Rafael Van der Vaart, Spurs and Holland midfielder, has important things to say about the non-selection of Ferdinand.

Just some of the unavailable players:

Wilshire
Lampard
Barry
Huddlestone
Cleverly
Rodwell
Carrick (by choice)
Scholes (by choice)
Walker
Smalling
Cahill
Richards (by choice)
Bent
Foster (by choice)
Robinson (by choice)
Barton (by being a complete tool)

Most of them would've stood a good chance of getting in an England squad.
