Compo's Hat Up from £1.78bn to £3.018bn, about 70% increase. Foreign deals will probably push money figure higher!

craziness.

Let's hope we're not on BT much then, at least away. Thanks again to everyone who complained that sky shouldn't get all the games

ZacNaloen So how am I going to watch these BT games?

No idea at the moment BT need to negotiate that element apparently....

Will this jeopardise the highlights package on BBC? We won't have it going to ITV I hope....

Compo's Hat BT won the A package (as well as F) so will have the pick of the games. No idea what pubs are going to do if the games are only available on BT Vision.

Does anyone actually have BT Vision?

Isn't there a rule that the channels the games are have to be available to everyone I.e whether they have virgin, sky, free view it should he possibly to buy a package.

Id that is the case it's not the end of the world, it's still just two subscriptions. Cancel Espn replace with bt

If we do have to have bt vision... FFS

Would have thought this is BT's big drive to increase subscription.

I'm presuming there will be some reciprical agreement for sky to show as an additional service.

I can't imagine you'll need to have two different boxes to see all prem scheduled matches. I don't think even the PL will think that's something people are going to stomach.

TV Money 2013-2016

by retro royal » 13 Jun 2012 20:49

UK broadcast rights will be increased by 1.25bn to 3.018bn BBC sports news correspondent James Pearce said the amount paid for the new deal was "staggering", marking a rise of 70% on the present deal, worth £1.773bn.

BT is paying £246m per season for its broadcast rights, while BSkyB is paying £760m a year.

I presume that if we do stay up it will be worth a minimum of something like £80m a season, that is crazy amount of money for little old Reading

Big blow for ESPN... wondering if they'll just make it a free to air channel after next season as can't see that many people subscribing for Rugby and a bit of European football. Suppose ESPN America makes it a bit more appealing but I'm shocked they've lost out.

"Under the new agreement, BT secured two of the seven packages on offer, showing 28 Saturday lunchtime games, including the opening game of the season, and 10 matches taking place on bank holidays or midweek evenings."

It was quite hit and miss where the Royals were concerned last season. Let's hope we can get better coverage next.

I'm glad ESPN have lost out, their coverage is even worse than Setanta IMHO.
BT will cover the Saturday lunchtime games (28 games) and 10 bank holiday / midweek evening games..
Sky will show 116 games on Sunday/Monday and guarantee to cover each team a minimum of 4 times per season

Changes are from 2013/14 season of course.

Every Premiership game is shown on the net so it will be, don't worry. Last time we were there I watched every away game via the net, good quality too

Do they not still have the FA Cup though?

re: espn, it was ok at best, bit worse than ITV lol - but at least you didnt have to pay anything extra on virginmedia, for me it was a nice freebie - problem is i never knew when the games were on

wonder how much BT will charge

guess sky will up their prices - dunno how they can pay that much and make money but i guess if they dont get it they are knackered as a business as theyve spent alot of money and time to make it work well and premier league gives them the edge over the competition - im sticking with vmedia tho as i hate sky as they balls up my install 12 years ago to the point that i got the top package free for a year as compo
