England vs Ireland

by Stuka » 12 Sep 2012 10:06

England and the Republic of Ireland look likely to meet in an international friendly at Wembley in May 2013.

For those of us that go to these things, a good day out looks on the cards not least because of the 'banter' but also the fact the Irish fans have made quite a name for themselves in being 'loud and proud' to borrow from the the Madejski Stadium vernacular.

Hopefully a couple of Royals in the lineups too.

Well I'm going.

Yep time to revivie the 'Berkshire Bootboys'.

Any truth to the rumour that it was Reading fans behind the rioting in Dublin, 1995?

At least we'll be playing no hopers like ourselves rather than a big named glamour tie!

Only if "behind it" means about 8 or 9 rows behind, I'd say.

I only mention it because I'm sure I read in some trashy hooligan book that Reading fans were quite involved. I realise all sorts of crap is said in these books of course.

A very good chance for England to break the duck. March 1985 is a long time ago now. A tentative 'IN' from me anyway. :?

Yeah things definitely different now but massive (cordial) banter opportunities up here in North London with the local diaspora.

The micks are such a bunch of massive dickheads I hope we send their collection of upper Championship standard players home with a sound thrashing.

Half of England's players will fake injury no doubt so they can avoid the end of season friendlies seeing as they're no World Cup qualifiers.

I thought we were actually technically Paddies, not Micks. And although it's only the interspaz, it's well known that you are incredibly fond of me.

Anyway, what you say about the Championship is unfortunately true. The joke used to be '1st division/Premier League B-team' - now it's sunk to the Championship. Still, 27 years and counting.
